Pastor's Wife - Sister Cynthia Diane Perkins Smith
 
  Being the fifth of nine siblings born to Newt and Callie Perkins CYNTHIA DIANE PERKINS SMITH quickly learned the joy of sharing, giving and living in a loving environment. She also learned her favorite passage from the bible as a child, the thirteenth chapter of First Corinthians. She received her early education in Bessemer Alabamawhere she proudly calls home. Cynthia earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Miles Collegein Birmingham, ALand furthered her studies at Dillard Universityin New Orleans, LA.
 
Utilizing her skills and the blessing to relate to others she has had the privilege of teaching both in the public and private school systems of Alabamaand Michigan.
 
Sister Smith is a member of the historic New Bethel Baptist Churchunder the dynamic leadership of her husband/pastor Rev. Robert Smith, Jr. During the 25 years they have served New Bethel, Sis. Smith has worked in and around the church in various ministries including Director of Children’s Ministry for eighteen (18) years, Sunday School Teacher, Christian Education Board Member and Chief Financial Officer. She continues to assist in the Children’s Ministry, teach Sunday School and work with the Membership Tracking Ministry. Because children are a priority, no matter where her other obligations may lead, the children can count on Sis. Smith’s commitment to them.
 
Sis. Smith has served in many different civic, social, and religious organizations. As former president of Michigan District Ministers’ Wives she served thirteen years. She is entering her sixth year as President of the Woman’s Auxiliary of the Michigan District Baptist Association.  In addition, she is the 3rd Vice President of the B.M. & E. State Convention Woman’s Auxiliary and an instructor to Ministers’ Wives in the Congress of Christian Education for the National Convention since 1999. She also serves on the Oratorical Commission of the National Baptist Convention Congress of Christian Education. Other affiliations include the NAACP, SCLC, Optimist Club and a Board Member of the Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO).  Sister Smith has received many accolades and honors too numerous to mention that include the Grace A. Cobb Missionary Award.
 
She is invited regularly to speak in and around the tri-county area, throughout Michiganand the Central Region. Other special speaking privileges include but are not limited to Nassau, Bahamas Frankfort, Germany Brooklyn, New Yorkand Houston, Texas.
 
Pastor and Sister Smith will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary in December 2008.  They have one preaching son Reverend Conderidge Robe'rt, who has added to the family a grandson, Joshua Robe'rt.  They also have two daughters, teacher Sherique Moshell who is married to Olander Ransby currently residing in Georgia and Terique Moshelle, Esq. who is practicing law in the District of Columbia.  Pastor and Sister Smith also have one goddaughter, Erma who is a senior in high school.
